Hotel Hive might be the most impressive hotel I have visited. What it lacks in room size, it more than makes up for in hospitality. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and did whatever they could to go above and beyond. When checking in we mentioned we were visiting for my husband's birthday and Ruthie immediately upgraded our room to a king. We were always greeted with a hello, how are you today, what can we do for you... One of the bartenders accidentally let a piece of ice hit my arm, and by hit I mean I barely felt a thing, and he insisted on covering our next round of drinks! The drinks were good, the pizza was fantastic, and we loved relaxing on the rooftop bar. The hotel itself is also beautiful. We loved the modern, simplistic decor combined with the rustic brick walls. And our room was spotless. Location was another plus. We were able to walk to the Kennedy Center for a show we were seeing in less than 10 minutes! And we took another short walk to the Lincoln Memorial one evening. The only thing I didn't love was the bed. It wasn't necessarily uncomfortable, but I wouldn't define it as much more than just okay. Regardless, I will absolutely stay here whenever we are in the area and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in DC.

Dear Samdoozle,

Thank you for sharing your rave review! We are delighted that you chose to join us to celebrate your husband's birthday and even more thrilled that Ruthie took such great care in getting you the perfect room! I apologize about the ice but am glad that you were able to enjoy a round of drinks on us. We are in a fantastic location for guests heading to the Kennedy Center as you experienced! As a relatively new property and brand, we love to hear guest feedback and thank you for sharing your sleep quality experience. We can't wait to see you back at Hive when you return to DC!

Thanks,
Bryna

The friendly staff make this hotel a great experience! Special thanks to David at reception for his tips and for making us feel so welcome. This is a great value hotel for Washington and much closer to the monuments and the mall than we thought and also a short walk to the metro at foggy bottom. The bar has great beer and the best mojito I have ever tasted. We stayed in a loft room on the top floor with plenty of space and a minimalist but comfortable vibe. Definitely recommend it. We had been a bit concerned that this place would feel too young for us oldies but in fact we felt very much at home!

Room tip: The loft rooms are quieter and very good with wooden beams and high ceilings

Have always made a point to eat &pizza when visiting GW and will say that Hotel Hive hits all marks with cool vibe, cleanliness, quality food and drink with staff that "get it." Spent an hour on the Roof as well as the bar and will say that all staff were outstanding while recognizing Stef and Ali as fantastic!

I was at Hotel Hive this week for business and I will plan to stay here again any time I am back in town. The value at this place is beyond measure for so many reasons.
The room was perfectly appointed and had everything I needed - the hotel itself has a great vibe and is very clean, hip, and comfy with all the right touches.
However...
What blew me away about this place was the staff. My trip began with a lost bag and few other travel related issues. I was greeted at the hotel by Ruthie and Sakina - they made sure I had everything I needed and then some. During my stay I got lost taking the metro, so I called Dave at the front desk, and he helped me get back to the hotel - and Eliza was always happy to help me with any questions I had.
The food and hotel bar were so great! Graham, Dylan, Ali and Sef always made sure I was properly fueled with coffee, beer, or delicious pizza during my stay.
These people always had a smile on their face for me, and everyone clearly strived to do their part, however small to make not only mine, but every guest's experience a good one. Hotel Hive is doing something right to have a staff that cares so genuinely for what they do, the role they play in providing such excellent hospitality, and how that can impact the people who choose to stay there.

Special shout out to Ruthie for being extra amazing in every way, and wearing shiny gold shoes while doing it. XO Git it, girl.

Hotel Hive is a really enjoyable place to stay in DC. Very close to attractions and some great restaurants. It has a great bar and Pizza restaurant. It is a former hostel that has recently been refurbished and they have done a fantastic job. The rooms as a result are a little small but are very functional. We were checked in by Ruthie who did a great job in making us feel so welcome. We arrived having shopped up a storm at the outlets and had 4 large suitcases so we asked if there might be a bigger room available. Ruthie showed us through a couple of rooms and upgraded us to a bigger room which was fantastic. There is a really special vibe and all of the staff at the hotel were exceptional. Nothing was a problem. The only hiccup with our stay was that the weather was a bit inclement so we didn't get to have a drink at the roof top bar. Nothing the staff could do about that. We will have to come back!

Room tip: Room 315 was great!

Dear Luke H,

Thank you for your review! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Hive! As DC's first micro-hotel, our rooms are definitely below market-size so we recommend that guests concerned with space book King rooms. I'm thrilled that Ruthie took such good care of you and made sure that you found the right room for your stay. I'm sorry that the weather didn't cooperate with your visit and hope to see you soon with some nicer weather to grab a drink on the rooftop!

Thanks,
Bryna
