Wonderful Zoo. we were going to just see the panda's there but ended up seeing the whole place. it has a unique variety of animals not seen in other zoo's. we got to see a komodo dragon, orangutan leaping across towers in the zoo, tigers, leopards . has a great small mammal section. also a great variety of reptiles and of course the pandas.
zoo has free admission, and was a great learning experience for us and the kids.

We arrived just before they opened, a close parking spot was easy to find. Our first stop was to see the pandas which were out and eating. We enjoyed the sunny weather while walking around as animals were starting to come out. The big cat and panda exhibits were my favorite. We were just finishing our walk around just as buses were arriving. Be sure to check out the event times for feeding times/info sessions. It’s a free park besides parking, and you can bring in your own snacks!

The Zoo is free, but it does cost $25.00 to park. I don't have an issue with that, they have to generate income. just stating for the people that think it's Free Free.
The Zoo is very nicely laid out and easy to get around. The Pandas were worth the trip. The line was way to long to get in to see the Apes so I missed the new baby gorilla. Its clean and the animals seem well cared for.

This is the best zoo we've been to and it was clear the caretakers really cared for the animals spontaneously coming up to us sharing stories like how they expose the animals to new items every day to keep them developing. The Pandas were so lovely - make sure you visit when not many people are there as they remove the Pandas when there are crowds to not stress the animals. If you come by car, be there as they open, the number of parking spaces are limited.

Nice zoo, it is well laid out and easy to navigate. Nice to visit if you have some extra time in DC. If you have been to the larger zoos (San Diego, Columbus) this zoo isn't going to impress but it is nice nonetheless. The Panda exhibit is great and clearly what the zoo is known for! There was a five day old gorilla when we visited that was adorable as well (also a four month old one that was cute too and not getting as much attention even though it was more view able).
