Amazing

Review of Hotel Staubbach
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2017
My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Never before have we been so well looked after from Adam who met us at reception when we arrived about 9.00pm to the lovely ladies in the Breakfast room to the wonderfully helpful ladies at reception during the day. They were SO genuinely kind and helpful.
The view from our room was amazing - worth paying a bit more to sit on your deck and look straight down the valley and at the Stabbauch waterfall.
The hotel could not be more central - easy walk to everything - train station about 5 minutes away and walks in the valley or up into the mountains easy to get to from here. If we ever get back to Lauterbrunnen again would definately stay there.

We stayed here for six nights so we got pretty well attuned with the establishment. First of all, it has an awesome view down the valley, with the Jungfrau off in the distance and the large waterfall not more than a half kilometer away. We had a room on the top floor with the wrap-around balcony and it was very nice. Yes, the room was a tad small and yes the bathroom was very small but with all the things to do in this area, we only slept in the room and it was more than adequate for that. The staff was super friendly and helpful. (although if they tell you that you don't need a reservation for the restaurant on the Schilthorn, make one anyway and if they tell you that you can ride your bike from Grutschalp to Isenfluh, don't believe them!) The breakfast buffet was full and had all the usual things but the view while you sat there and ate is unbeatable. They have a room with hot water and tea and coffee for free that is open until late at night and another room with a microwave and water-heater that is always open and that was great if you want a cup of tea after dinner. They have a neat book with all the local restaurant menus and they will make your reservation for you. The lady in the morning who ran the breakfast was so friendly and informative. She would stop by each table and talk and ask how yesterday went and where are you going today and then give advice. You can't find that in any big chain hotel. This is a far better place to stay that the expensive Murren and you have access to all the same hiking trails, trains, and cable cars, plus you can walk to the train station, walk to the Grustchalp cable car and walk to all the restaurants in the valley for half the price and, best of all, you can park your car for free right in front of the hotel and not have to drag it up the two cable cars to get to Murren. We will stay here again when in the area, although Switzerland is EXTREMELY expensive and if you come here, be prepared to spend some major money if you want to see all the awesome things to see. Just a word of advice. PS: The fall colors were amazing!

Room tip: Book a upper floor room with a view toward the waterfall. You will get a balcony and you will thank me for it!

We stayed at Hotel Staubbach early October for five days and from the moment we walked in the front doors we new we made the right choice staying here. The customer service from Angie and her staff were impecable and so friendly and informative. Location was fabulous and in a quiet part of town but still a lovely 10 min walk to the train station with restaurants and cafes close by. We had the 3rd floor apartment with 180 degree views of the waterfall and surrounding valley. It was something out of a fairytale. Room size was good overall lovely, bright and clean. Breakfast was fabulous and lots of variety. Maria was always so friendly and also made time to ask us what our plans for the day was and and also assisted with our questions we had on the area. I also liked the added bonus of the shared kitchen sitting room which was available to guests to use for self catered meals which we used on several occasions to heat up microwave meals bought from the local supermarket. We would definately recommend this place to anyone visiting Lauterbrunnen and the Jungfrau region. You will not be disappointed.

We spent two nights here while hiking the Alps. I will say the staff is very friendly and helpful. The exterior needs some attention. There are flags hanging out front that are quite decrepit and it is the little things that can make or break a hotel. The interior was clean but the carpets in our room were extremely worn and need replacing. Overall the room was quite plain and simple. It does have a good location. water pressure and temperature in the shower were very good and the bathroom was roomy more or less. There is no television and the WIFI was very inconsistent. A little work here would make a big difference.

You must seek this hotel by name when making a reservation. It does not come up in Booking, etc. With a wonderful CLOSE view of Staubbach Falls, this hotel is an easy slight uphill 10 minute walk from the train station. The staff give great recommendations of what to see and when to go based on their active weather computer app. Angie, mgr., and staff Adam, Mariya and Maria were over the top helpful. Breakfast buffet is amazingly generous, even offering an extra early option if you have to leave before the 7:30 opening time. They even helped us with dinner reservations during the four nights we were there. Can't compliment this accommodation enough. Is there a six star level? Great value for the money. Free wifi

Room tip: Any upper level room with a view of the famous Staubbach Falls. Some have balconies but there is a public balcony available.

Nice hotel with very good hot breakfast and location. View from the room is beautiful. Room is small but clean.
There was a small lift.
Staying in Lauterbrunnen is convenient to go to other small towns and Interlaken.
Waterfall is in walking distance. Lovely surroundings.
Very nice service and support from staffs especially Mariya.
I almost give only 4/5 because of the beds. It was not comfortable.
