This review is for CHALET Horner (apartment run by T. Steiger) not Pub Horner…

Our family of four stayed in the two bedroom Schilthorn apartment for four nights. Mixed reviews from the family, but I liked it.

Pros:
- extremely good price compared to local hotels
- great location in center of town, across from Hotel Oberland
- rooms were very clean - bathroom had good water pressure
- WiFi (v important for my teenagers) was good - we had to pay 5 CHF for our four day stay (why not just fold it into room rate?)

Cons:
- rooms are very dated (think late 70s) and small. The 2 twin bedroom is the first room you enter in the apartment, which can be awkward.
- balcony is small and not private - you will stare at the other two apartment balconies while seated, and not the greatest view of the falls (I think the other apartments have better views)

If you want a reasonably priced, centrally-located place to stay while you tour the Lauterbrunnen valley, this is a good choice. If you like to lounge around in spacious common rooms when you travel, this is not the best option.

Spent an easy 2 hours in the afternoon at the pub after hitch hiking across Switzerland. Immediately felt at home with the friendly staff and the wooden bar. Drinks were really good and reasonably priced (for Switzerland!). Other people said the food was excellent. They also have a free discotech upstairs which is frequented by locals, sports folks, and travelers. Excellent meeting spot in Lauterbrunnen and fun place to pass some time. Guaranteed to meet interesting people - the outdoor seats are full on a sunny day.

I echo the post of Jeanette D on 24 June 2012 - this review is regarding CHALET Horner, run by Teresa Steiger. It looks as though some there is a mix of reviews here, some for CHALET HORNER and other for Hotel Horner.

We visited CHALET HORNER in early April 2014 and stayed in the Jungfrau apartment on the first floor, a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette and ensuite with a great little lounge area with a table and 4 chairs. The apartment was very comfortable, impeccably clean, the bed was bedding were top rate. The kitchen was fully stocked with all that you could think you may want, cutlery, china, glassware (including wine glasses), variety of quality cutting knives, bowls and serving platters, a small electric stove and a drawer full of little kitchen gadgets. We had our own balcony with the most amazing view, from where we ate our breakfast and then we were there again enjoying an afternoon glass of wine and nibbles. We could see the waterfalls in one direction and the other we could see the little trains to and from Wengen. The apartments are near the train line but noise was not a problem.

Wifi is available for a small fee. Train station to Interlaken & Wengen is a 5 minute walk as is the station to the Schilthorn on the way to both you would pass a Coop. Nice restaurants nearby as are the bakers, butcher, deli.

The Horner is a great place to stay if you are looking for a budget place to stay. It's not luxurious, but its location is fantastic and it directly above the a bar. It can be a bit noisy, but the staff there are always friendly. They also have a great range of apartments to rent which are well equipped.

Room Tip: Get a room from the top floor if you are not hiring an apartment

We stayed at Chalet Horner for four nights. The Jungfrau apartment was small but well equipped with wonderful views of the valley and falls. The balcony just great with all day sun. Good value for Lauterbrunnen.
