Thought this was the worst museum we ever visited and we have visited a lot!! Mostly about the med diet and a few maps on the wall. Maybe we missed something but honestly you could give this a miss - there's more history on the streets!

After visiting the Islamic Museum, we expecting an interesting local museum telling us the other parts of the Tavira story through the ages. Perhaps we missed it, but the top floors of the building were taken up with some rather dull, uninspired art installations, and there was an exhibition about Mediterranean food, ok but nothing new to learn. Couldn't find anything at all about Tavira, if it was there we must have missed it.

The old part of Tavira and the area surrounding the castle and Church are impressive enough and this palace is absolutely outstanding and worth the visit outside with very good and interesting exhibitions

See inside this beautiful building for a slice of Portugese history. Beautifully laid out. The exhibitions are in Portugese and English. A simple museum and great value for three euros

This museum is definitely worth a visit, it gives you an overview of the food, culture, history and religion of the area of Tavira over the centuries with lovely displays, movies, photographs and exhibits.
