Very, VERY, noisy!

Review of Centra Hotel
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 May 2018
The hotel is comfortable, the breakfast buffet good, the staff pleasant, the location is very central making most attractions within walking distance. But the location is the noisiest I found in my exploration of the old town and for me negated all the advantages it has. It is surrounded by bars, clubs and football and Irish bars with music and noise until 3-4AM. The hotel actually supplies earplugs in the room and believe me you will need them. If you want to use a Rixwell hotel try one of the others I'm certain none are as sleep-depriving as this one.

This hotel is very well located. You can walk to all the tourist sights. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by.

Taxi 15 - 17 euros from airport and only a 20 min ride.

We stayed in suite 401 which was lovely. Space galore, separate lounge and bedroom. Towelling robes and slippers, tea/coffee making. Being street side you get late night noise (can be up until 6am) but the double glazing is good. I'm a light sleeper and I was OK but ear plugs are provided so the hotel is aware of this. The city view was worth it. Excellent housekeeping. breakfast ample with plenty of choice (fizz complimentary, cheeky way to start the day).

We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here the first weekend of the Christmas markets.

Upon arrival we had our room upgraded which was a nice surprise and greatly appreciated. Our room over looked the cobbled streets in front of the hotel, it was a good size with tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge all very clean.

The hotel is in a brilliant location no more than a 10 minute walk to most places of interest.

The breakfast was down in the cellar/basement area of the hotel it was ok but nothing special.

The young girls that work on reception are extremely polite and friendly and a credit to the hotel.

Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed stopping over in this central Riga hotel. Not only a great location but we had a lovely room overlooking the centre of town. A warm, relaxing place to stay in-between enjoying the city, I would definitely come back.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Honestly, we didn't expect that we will have such a great stay for this price. We had a double room on the 5th floor.
Check-in was fast and friendly. Room was really spacious for a standard room. We had a nice view from our window. Bed was really comfortable, each of us had 2 pillows. In the room we had: clothet , TV, earplugs, clock, bed tables, working desk, phone, coffee/tea facilities and mini bar.
As we booked directley we got some nice, small presents from the hotel. Bathroom also was good but I would prefer bigger towels. Cleaning ladies are extremly friendly and super proffesional. Breakfast was fine. Room soundproofing was kinda good.

We didn't hear any noises from the street (although we slept with opened window every night). We are staying in Old Town quite often and we do know the issues about noise on the streets. But thats definitely not a hotel fault. Old Town is a party place and bars/pubs etc. are open almost 24/7 if You want to stay in a quite area do not choose hotels in Old Town. Cause people shouting and drinking till 7am is a normal thing here but that's absolutely nothing to do with the hotels. Definitely would recommend this hotel.
