Service was top notch and the people on the front desk were very helpful in enabling me to plan my trip properly and also in booking the tours I wanted to do. Made things very easy. The buffet breakfast was fantastic with plenty of range in food items. I was impressed. Great location within walking distance of the Danube and the local Aldi. There are also several fast food places located within 100m.

A compact hotel squeezed into a narrow gap, close to the main market and the city centre. Convenient and in walking distance of central Pest. The staff are friendly and helpful and, whilst the bedrooms are on the tight side, they are clean and bright. Beware the dining room at breakfast as it is small and fills quickly at peak time (8-9); the restaurant staff are a tad slow at replenishing food as it runs out and the hot dishes are eclectic. On the whole, OK.

Yes the rooms tend to be smaller than our North American hotels but that is not unusual in Europe. We found the rooms to be clean and adequate and breakfast was incredibly good. Coffee was the best we had our entire trip! Desk and restaurant service was above average from the get go.
BUT, most of all, SERVICE was phenomenal. Here is our story. Almost unbelievable!
The end of a wonderful 2 week river cruise and a first time visit to Budapest almost ended in disaster when at 6:30AM, about to depart for airport, our luggage was accidentally locked in our cab’s trunk with car locked and no spare keys available for at least an hour or so. The cab had been booked for us by the hotel. What do you do? Wait for luggage to be freed and likely miss your flight or go without luggage and make your flight? Both options presented issues. The decision immediately became a no brainer when Hotel Reception Manager, Daniel Judasz, promptly stepped up, apologizing for the mishap, taking full ownership of and responsibility for the issue, and attempting to resolve as quickly as possible. Within minutes, Daniel had our full confidence. With no chance of accessing the luggage, Daniel immediately promised to ship our bags at no cost to us. We had never met this man until check out yet here we were feeling like we were in good hands! This does not come easily for us. We are experienced travellers and relinquishing control/ trusting someone in a foreign place is not our norm! So we left without our luggage now focussing our attention on issues we might face upon arrival in Canada at Border Services/Customs and IF our bags were to arrive as promised. Fast forward and 24 hours later we are home. Explaining our predicament to Border Services seemed to go well but one never knows. At home, we were greeted by an email from Daniel first apologizing once again and updating steps taken and what lay ahead. To our complete surprise, the Hotel had even contacted Canada Customs to explain and enquire as to shipping steps. Daniel then proceeded to send us a letter that we could share with Canada Border/Custom Services if required. Long story short...about 8 days later, our luggage arrived at our doorstep...all 3 pieces, securely wrapped in plastic, with no duty or charges of any kind pending! An incredible experience to say the least! We have no doubt this mishap could have been a lot different if it were not for Daniel and his hotel team taking complete charge. Thank you. Our beautiful memories of Budapest ended on an incredibly high note!
We would recommend Boutique Hotel Budapest to any traveller.

Room tip: Ask reception about room. They were most helpful in meeting our needs

The hotel is in a really good location. The room was small and the equipment was tired. There is no ice machine. There is bottled water in the rooms but after you have opened them, you find the notice which informs you that you will be charged euro 3 for each bottle. Breakfast was fine but no other meals are available in the hotel. It’s an ok hotel in an absolutely fabulous city.

This hotel is in a good location for transportation, restaurants and tourist shopping. We found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. A comprehensive breakfast is included and the dining area is clean and bright. There is a bar area that offers drinks at a reasonable price and has limited, light fare menu. The public areas of the hotel are clean and well maintained.
However, we found that the carpet in our hallway was stained and our room, while clean, was not as well maintained. The flooring, furniture and fixtures could use some sprucing up.

We found the room to be small and cramped with no place to sit comfortably. I checked with the front desk and was told that all the rooms in the hotel were the same size. This might be a good hotel for an overnight stay, but for a longer stay, I might look elsewhere.

I realize that creating a hotel from a century old home or office building presents some challenges. However with a little thought about furnishings and seating areas even small rooms can be elegant and comfortable.
