Old but fighting

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Oct 2024
While not quite as grand as it might have been in its heyday, the hotel is perfectly located and comfortable. The rooms are quite small, but at least somewhat modern (with our room seeming to have had a fairly recent-ish renovation of the bathroom). One of those types of rooms where it is basically a bed and tiny walkways around the bed, though perhaps the more expensive rooms have more space.

The breakfast was quite nice, with good variety on the buffet. The staff was helpful and professional.

The Grand Union Hotel is very well situated in the centre of Lubjiano. Room 160 is a fantastic suite of rooms, it has its own balcony where you can sit and watch the world go by. Great breakfasts , nice public rooms , great staff. Very comfortable.

Room tip: Treat yourself to room 160, a corner suite with a balcony

We stayed for nearly a week at this hotel. The hotel is right next to the vehicle free area on the centre of the town so there is easy access to places of interest and restaurants. The service quality at the hotel is up to the standard expected. The staff are friendly. The breakfast wasn’t quite extensive.

The building and location are amazing . The room was lovely but clearly had been a smoking room so smelt of stale tobacco . We returned after an evening out at 10pm expecting that we could have a night cap but there is no bar, what used to be the bar is just a seating area and they don’t serve anything past 10pm even to residents . Breakfast is basic and described as free . Clearly it’s in the room rate but no option to order anything else and pay either .

Probably the most famous and historic hotel in the city. Bill clinton and the queen both stayed here. Location is perfect for walking the city and so close to tons of restaurants. Very good included breakfast (no issues getting a table). They even had a gluten free section on the breakfast buffet. Lobby of hotel is nice and concierge was helpful. Staying at such an old hotel you get both the good and bad. The architecture is beautiful and the room was pretty well updated. With that said air conditioning could be better. Carpets really need to be replaced and the stains are an eyesore. Walls are scuffed and could be touched up. Pool is ok but kind of small.

Room tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators

This is a great place. Loved the location near presheren square and triple bridge. I enjoyed visiting with Pavlic at the front desk as well, he goes out of his way to help. I enjoyed Luca and Blaz’ company as well. Breakfast was great, rooms were great. Parking garage was entertaining for sure but works. Glad I stayed here and will again. My son and I got haircuts in the barber shop, good experience there too. These people are very good at what they do and it shows!
Thank you
