After reading other reviews, we were very concerned. However, pleasantly surprised. Yes it is very basic, room 7 is large and very warm. Everywhere was clean. Towels a bit hard. Bed was clean, warm if a bit hard. Could have done with another pillow each. Plenty of hot water but take a toilet roll. Some provided but very basic. Breakfast was cold meats, cheese, pate, salads, fruit, yogurt, porridge, cereals and bread/rolls. Cakes and pastries also available. Tea is out of an urn and very weak. I think they only put one teabag in!
Staff on reception are helpful and friendly. Plenty of maps and brochures. Buy your tram tickets for out and return journeys from reception and validate in the machine on the tram. 24 Czech crowns per journey. Number 6 or 17 tram takes you into Prague in about 15 minutes. There is a huge shopping mall called Palladium where you get off the tram. We went in there for warmth and found a lovely cafe Gourmand on the lower level. Most sights are within easy walking. Sadly, the famous astronomical clock is being refurbished and not visible.
There are a number of students staying at the hotel; they can be quite noisy up and downstairs early evening. More
