We stayed here two nights for a family wedding based in the hotel. It is a beautiful old building with lots of additions which makes it like an up & down rabbit warren! it is looking a little tired in places but the lounge, bar and restaurant are very comfortable. Most of the staff are excellent just one recepionist that was not particularly friendly or helpful, may be having a bad day!
wedding was amazing and they catered for the bride and grooms every need

Room Tip: go for lower number rooms below 50s or you have to walk much further

My new husband and I were married on 24 March 2018 at the Bothwell Bridge Hotel. We had the most incredible day of our lives. From start to finish everything was absolutely perfect. Each time we visited the hotel prior to the wedding we were instantly recognised and given the red carpet treatment. Every single member of staff go above and beyond and their customer service is second to none. Special thanks to Stephen and Mark who were the most professional, attentive and caring gents we’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Nothing was a problem for them and they took the stress away from us right from the very start. Also thank you to Stanislav for making our Russian family feel at home, your kindness was remarkable!
The venue itself is absolutely stunning and the whole day ran like clockwork. We didn’t worry about a thing and were able to enjoy our day, and we enjoyed every single second.
If you’re thinking of Bothwell Bridge Hotel for your wedding venue we would highly recommend it. The food, drink, service and the stunning decor are, in our opinion, unbeatable.
Many thanks to you all from the new Mr and Mrs Rennie.

Voucher for afternoon tea for 6 - £7.50 each. Decor of hotel is lovely, toilets clean and service very good. Parking no problem (remember to ask at reception for token to exit car park).
Afternoon Tea - served tea - no offer of coffee (although maybe if we had asked we would have received coffee). Refill of tea pots was requested and brought to table.
Sandwiches - some bits stale - cheap quality bread with no effort made with regard to fillings - slice of plastic cheese, ham, beef and tuna - thinly spread. On one plate there were 5 tuna sandwiches. Scones were lovely but jam obviously came out a jar. Cakes were very small but good selection. Quantity was good but not quality.
Overall - tried Bothwell Bridge for a change, but will not return - there are other local choices for Afternoon Tea which are far superior (e.g. Radstone Hotel)

Had a Itison voucher for 2 course lunch, booked table arrived to a deserted restaurant no staff to be seen, eventually a waiter appeared with plates of food looking very harrassed, once he had served his meals were shown to our table, harassed waiter came over to take drinks order and rushed us into ordering lunch before we had read the menu, waiter couldn't remember soul of the day. Opted for ministrone soup and a toasted sandwich. After over 30 minutes worst plate of minestrone soup arrived greasy and tasteless, after another eternity the toasted sandwiches arrived burnt and very like filling, should have been the simplest of meals to cook for any amateur never mind a professional and it was truly awful. Asked for bill for drinks never arrived, as had an appointment at 2pm, went to bar was given a bill with £6.50 glass of wine plus our drinks, when we only had 2 soft drinks complained about service and the guy behind the bar cancelled the soft drinks bill of £3.20, but found the staff rude and obnoxious when we asked when our food was coming. Basil Faulty and Manuel alive and well in Bothwell.

Had a voucher for Afternoon Tea for 2 as a Christmas gift. I pre-booked the date and time and asked for vegetarian sandwiches. When we arrived - we were sat at a table for 12 - totally unsuitable - and eventually when we managed to catch the eye of the waiter - he brought the cake stand, complete with beef and gammon sandwiches, and was totally oblivious for our request for vegetarian selection. After some time, we managed to get lots of egg mayonnaise sandwiches, tuna, and some hard (old) cheese. We did have to ask for drinks - but the waiter presumed we wanted only tea - and there was no offer of coffee. Then we had to go to the bar to ask for teaspoons! The sandwiches were thin and on poor quality bread. The two scones were soggy, but reasonable, Unfortunately, the cake selection was like a competition to see how small a cake could be - tiny and not very fresh looking. We also had an old cream scone as a cake - but enough was enough. I thought this was because we had a voucher that our food was substandard - but when I enquired I was told this was a normal Afternoon Tea ! Avoid
