“An Oasis of relaxation, friendliness & enjoyment.”
Reviewed 30 March 2018 for a stay in February 2018

We stayed in the Pink Oasis for the month of March, 2018. The Pink Oasis is one of several cabins/shacks that the owner, Sonja, has in her garden. The garden is full of exotic plants cleverly arranged so that each property is secluded, but not isolated. Guests can choose to socialise or maintain their privacy as they wish. Sonja is a most helpful host & her collection of dogs & cats are delightful & excellently behaved. Renting one of her jeeps is an economical way to enjoy the many delights of the island.

The Pink Oasis is comfortable with a main area having the double bed, dining table & chairs, sofa & clothes storage, & TV & radio. The galley kitchen is off this area & the shower room, sink & WC beyond this. There is a lovely balcony & sitting/eating area overlookng the garden.

There are some lovely local beaches - we particularly enjoyed Deep Bay (our favourite) & Hawksbill. Both are a pleasant walk of about 30-40 minutes. Nowhere is too remote from the property on the island & we enjoyed many days out e.g. Jolly Harbour (Church Bay is a particular favourite), English Harbour, Shirley Heights, Long Bay, & St John's itself. Driving does need care as the signposting is haphazard & road surfaces need plenty of attention.

The local buses are worth trying & many islanders are happy to offer lifts. Antiguans everywhere are warm & welcoming. It is well worth engaging with local customs & activities - roadside cooked food at the weekends, Shirley Heights on Sundays, & Only's bar/eating place in Five Islands village. Five Islands is a friendly village with a school & teacher training college & goats, horses, cattle & the occasional donkey roaming freely.

Thank you Sonja for making our stay so memorable. We are very happy to reccomend you as a holiday destination. We would be happy to return.
