French Leave was the perfect choice for a relaxing week Being able to swim in the Atlantic and Caribbean each day was fantastic! We already miss the staff and we left on Monday. Nigel provided us with 2 full days of adventurous exploring. His passion for Eleuthera is infectious. Each and every person we interacted with was warm, welcoming and took care of all of our needs from taxi service to rental vehicle and flight changes. We originally booked our stay for 4 nights and ended up staying 7!! We looked forward to breakfast with Donn each morning. The food exceeded our expectations. We had an ocean view villa that provided us with spectacular sunsets. The villa was tastefully appointed, beachy without being "over the top." I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. You can easily split your time between the Caribbean and the Atlantic or rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle to explore the island, meet the people and absorb the spirit of Eleuthera. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we learned a great deal about Eleuthera the people and culture.

Beautiful resort. Awesome staff. Chuck the GM was super accommodating, and as friendly as they come. Donn the waiter at their restaurant was incredible. He also plays in a local band. Rooms were top notch.

My wife and I just returned from spending the weekend at this lovely resort. From the moment we checked in when Resort Supervisor Shamario gave us a signature cocktail, the Switcher, we knew it was going to be an amazing stay. We met the GM, Chuck Donnelly who found time to welcome us and he was always around making sure everything was fine.
Then we went to our private villa with our own golf cart. Whoa, the view from the balcony blew us away and the villa was like you were in your home. All top class amenities.
Then we went to 1648, the restaurant and we were hooked. We ate most of our meals there and you have to try the lobster and the guava duff muffins with the rum sauce.
Our last day we spent on the private beach where Rasheed took great care of us. The ocean and the soft velvety sand is mind blowing.
That night we had our special dinner back at 1648 and my wife, being a foodie was truly impressed with lobster and I was with the local grouper. Fallon, the chef can "throw down in the kitchen".
One night at midnight we went for a dip in the pool and it changed colors which was cool. Truly romantic.
The service is the best I have ever seen. They engage you and become like family. Melissa in the mornings was delightful and so personable. Britney in the evenings was awesome and bartender, Abdul sure could put a cocktail together. Ms.Adderley in the boutique is a gem. She makes you feel at home in 1 second.
I am sure I missed a few but I apologize for that but "the man' there is Shamario. He is so welcoming and knowledgeable. He had all the answers and his suggestions were awesome.
My wife and I needed a getaway like this and we made the best choice. It was so romantic and the island of Eleuthera with the friendly people, beautiful views and prettiest beaches and water is unbeatable.
Thanks everyone for making our vacation the best ever and we will be back soon!!

Room tip: Splurge and book a oceanfront villa.

This is a small quality Marriot constructed cottage resort with all of the amenities of high level hotels. This is very quiet and good for just decompressing since the island and the resort have minimum things to do except enjoy the beaches, the clean water in the Caribbean and Atlantic ocean. This is a small long island of just 10,000 people and no crime and no hassles. It was very enjoyable. There is really no commercialization on the island as other islands have become but the people are so nice. The resort has a great exercise room and a good restaurant on the island in which even Lenny Kravitz shows up for lunch who lives on the island as well as Mariah Carey...! It is peaceful here but as some guests realized..it can be too peaceful and left early since they expected more things to do.... Also, the beach on the Atlantic side of the resort---really the only beach is always rough waters--3-5 ft waves which is not a problem for myself but others it will be and really no snorkling with the roughness hitting the reefs 1000 yards out and breaking when it lands on the beach. The water in front of the resort is actually very calm to snorkel--saw some barracudes..large French anglefish, school of dolphins, etc. but is it a drop to 10-20 ft in the front of the resort..if you can swim... no issues and nice. Great sunset view on the resort- restaurant side. Golf Carts are nice also to go to the beach which is 0.75 miles to beach if you want to walk/run... there is service on the beach also with chairs/umbrellas and responsive service. The reality is you need to rent a SUV to really to see other beaches (110 mile island --takes time to get around) and areas and SUV's rental are not the best and the roads since it is a coral island with thin pavements are the bumpiest of any island. It is like riding a water boat with 3 ft waves. Great place and great management Nigel - and NEW GM came aboard to improve the future as they slowly expand. They delivered plus more with the upgrade to the oceanfront...Enjoy and will return another day...!
