Getting there is a most beautiful trip and you really get a sense of 'Skyros' the island.

I would highly recommend the trip, on the way you will see a few skyrion ponies.

Rupert Brooke died on his way to Gallipoli in a warship moored at Tris Boukes Bay off the island of Skyros. His body was brought ashore and buried in an olive grove. The original simple grave was replaced by a tomb commissioned by his mother after World War I. The area where the grave is is in the South of the island and is mountainous and rugged. There are no signs to the grave but it is marked on the local maps. His most famous poem which contains the famous lines 'that there is a corner of a foreign field That is forever England' is inscribed on the tomb. This was a 'must' visit for my husband who went to Rugby School where the poet was born and educated.
