Stopped by on a trip on the Spa Valley Railway.

Very quaint pub. Friendly staff.
Had a beer garden so was good to sit outside with the kids and dog.
Food was dry good.
Had a variety of traditional English dishes like steak and ale pie as well as some asian food such as Malaysian rendang curry.
Reasonable prices.

Worth a visit
Would go back again.

Booked a table for 3 at a very busy time. We were welcomed by staff and made comfortable very soon. We had plenty of time for a relaxed chat before good home cooked food arrived. ( You must try the fish pie ! It's to LIVE for ! ).

Although very busy, the staff were relaxed and wanted to please. This was our second visit and we will be back again. Next time, someone else can drive so that I can have more than one beer !

We booked in for an overnight stay and the host was very obliging in offering to provide some evening find as they stop serving at 5.00pm on Sunday's. The Crown is very old and the rooms reflect this. None of the floors are level so there is a real olde world charm.
Breakfast was very good.

This is one of those places I am not sure I should tell you about. My hidden gem so DO NOT go there against YES YOU MUST VISIT so that the pub is still there next time I venture into the Kent countryside. Firstly the food - A fish (seafood) platter for two was well prepared and presented. Salmon, shrimp, mackerel & a trout pate on the side with brown bread sourced from the local bakery. Then the fruit crumble with the requested additional custard. Just brilliant. So many supposed Gastro Pubs do not understand the word PUDDING...!!! These people do. Then there is the setting, an old pub with lots of rooms and places to sit including a set of outside tables overlooking the village green - lots of good architecture to study between mouthfuls. Finally there is the brilliant service. Food appears quietly without a fuss.
