“Lovely French Villa in a little village”
Reviewed 15 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A really lovely single storey property. The kitchen is really nice with everything you need, very useful having a separate toilet and shower room. The swimming pool is one of the best we have seen and with the outside space made for a perfect holiday. All 4 bedrooms are a good size and with the shutters closed stayed very cool. The bakery was brilliant a nice stroll there in the morning to get the fresh croissants for breakfast. The only problem with the village was that the cafe/bar was closed. The restaurant at the vinery was amazing and very french. Also very useful to have wifi. It was suitable for all different ages, we had 86, 54, 55, 26, 23 and 18 and suited us all.

“The outside eating and barbeque area of this villa are a joy”

This was our 4th visit to this villa in Tourbes and each year it gets better and better. There is plenty of space both inside and out.
The bedrooms are well appointed with a good bathroom, extra toilet and large separate shower. The kitchen is excellent with a lovely big fridge.

The swimming pool, outside eating area and barbeque are a joy, where you can seek the sun or shade as you wish, sitting around the table or stretching out on the sun loungers. We appreciated the lack of a TV as it would only prove a distraction to the amenities of this lovely villa.

On this visit we were six over three generations and we all had a wonderful time both in the villa and on trips to the surrounding area. The villa is a bungalow in a quiet cul de sac, perfectly situated in a beautiful little village with historical Pezenas nearby and plenty of activities within 30 minutes driving. La Maison restaurant is a must visit, where there is a friendly welcome and fabulous food.

There are many good sandy beaches within 40 minutes driving, we particularly like Vias as it is a short drive and the beach is good for the children with lots of cafes and eating places. We also visited the Aquapark in Cape D’Adge, the ropes courses near Beziers, cycled alongside the Canal du Midi. In the other direction we particularly enjoyed the river beach and swimming at Pont du Diable.

We will certainly return to this villa in Tourbes

“Fantastic villa in a gem of a rural French village”

The villa is great for kids, as all on one level, and loads of space indoors and outside. Pool area is lovely and peaceful, and we really enjoyed bar-b-que. Kitchen is lovely, modern and light and huge fridge is a real bonus.

Tourbes is an authentic French village. The kids loved walking to the bread shop each morning to collect fresh croissants, and the lady offers tasters of the freshly cooked bread. There is also a vineyard in the village where you can buy great wine straight from the vats at a cheaper price than bottled water!. They do very good meals at the vineyard at amazinzg prices, where all the food is cooked over a barbeque using vine twigs, all washed down with their own wine!

Nearby town of Pezenas is a lovely, loads to see and do, but does get busy with tourists.

Quite a lot of great beaches nearby, we liked the one at Agde, easy parking and massive beach for the kids

“Fine for family holiday..could be very good.”

We spent the last two weeks in July here, the first week just my wife and myself, the second week joined by our daughter, granddaughter and a close friend of our daughter. My overall opinion is somewhat mixed having stayed in many villas and gites in France over the past 30 years, a number of good points but also a few things that let it down a little.
First the positive points. It is spacious and comfortable with a pool that is ideal for a toddler, I was particularly impressed with the new large fridge/freezer and the modern kitchen layout with excellent dishwasher and washing machines. Super main shower in its own room, very powerful and refreshing, together with comfortable beds. The village of Tourbes is quiet, the bar in the village square is a delightful place for a beer or two at the end of a hot day and the pizzas they serve are very good. The village restaurant, 'La Maison' is also to be recommended. Pezenas, a few minutes by car, is a gem of a town with a huge number of quality craft shops and restaurants in the old quarter. They open till midnight in the evening on Wednesday and Friday during July and August. For beaches we found that Serignan Plage was within easy reach (25 minutes) had lovely sand and sea front with family and naturist beaches that never got really crowded.
There were odd things with the villa that detracted somewhat. I did not feel it was particularly private with the road on two sides (albeit a cul de sac and generally quiet, there were comings and goings frequently throughout the day), the house on the patio side had only a wire fence and the odd bush to separate the properties, fortunately it was unoccupied during our stay. Other points that let it down were a lack of teapot or coffee pot, a bread bin and decent carving knives....a shame in an otherwise well appointed kitchen.
On recent experiences in Southern and Western France with renting villas I personally found the lack of wifi frustrating together with no TV connection to live channels.
