Friendly welcoming staff make excellent coffee. And the baking exceptional, especially the Afghans. Delicious!

This review is about the cafe and not the shop (see separate review) at Dudley's Cottage.

My wife and I needed a cold drink after walking in the heat around the historic Chinese gold mining settlement. We saw the outdoor seating with marquees and sun umbrellas so stepped inside.

We bought a cold bottled drink each from the fridge, but also couldn't resist trying a whiteboard fritter and a half dozen fresh pork and coriander dumplings. Both were excellent.

The staff were very friendly and the outdoor atmosphere was great. Reasonably priced food.

Would recommend.

We stumbled across this beautiful cottage, by pure chance, at the western end of the Main Street in Arrowtown.
On a sunny day, we sat outside at a table under the trees, and enjoyed whitebait patties, scrumptious date scones and coffees for lunch.
Prompt, and efficient service from three friendly staff.
An added bonus was finding the great selection of exquisite gifts (mostly NZ made) inside the Cottage.
We’ll definitely return!!
Thanks for such a typically ‘kiwi experience.

We stopped by for a toasted sandwich and coffee ... what a great little find. The staff are so helpful and very informative.

We were so impressed we returned for lunch ... another 10/10 experience.

Highly recommended ... especially the date scones with jam and cream!

A small gift shop at the entrance to the old Chinese village but not a lot to offer the passing tourist that they won’t have seen elsewhere.
