The staff at the Papakura Motor Lodge are so friendly and helpful... I would 100% recommend staying here and would personally stay again. The rooms were clean and tidy and if there were extra things needed the staff/owner was there to help. 👌👌👌
We arrived at the Auckland airport after 22:00. To avoid dealing with city traffic the next morning, we desired lodging approximately half an hour south of the airport. Papakura fit the bill, as did this motel. Steve arranged, with a code, for the key to be available to us when we arrived near midnight. The unit was roomy and clean (kitchenette, extra bed in entry room) and allowed us the first night's sleep we needed after a long flight. In the daylight we saw that the garden area was well tended. Steve was friendly and helpful with directions. Great South Road was busy during the morning commute, although the noise was not a problem in our unit. We walked 10 minutes on this street to find a convenience market for coffee and initial food shopping, with a detour on the way back through a nature preserve that introduced us to some New Zealand flora and birds.
The best part of this hotel is the owner, great helpful generous man, by all means, he always goes the extra mile to make his guests happy starting with his homemade Muffins, he gave me some food free of charge and even drove me to the train station without asking anything and side goodbye with a big smile. The room was very large and well equipped and very clean. Price was very good. If I am back in the area surely it will be my place to stay. Will always remember him.
The rooms are old, but well looked after, but are dating. The room service was average and not full service like many others I have stayed in. The bed was made up bed and a general tidy of the rooms only, dishes left out (washed by myself) were not put away and the used towel was not replaced.
Only met the manager? he was polite but communication was limited. The price of the rooms was in the high end of the market for this type of motel and location.
We used this as a overnight stay on the way north. The room was clean, all the amenities provided, the staff were friendly. One of the beds was very soft but the rest were ok. I would highly recommend.
