Boxing Day, most places closed but No. 5 was open which was good.

Nice spot by a driving range/golf course. We sat outside. Menu had standard items but a few nice choices like lambs fry.

Both myself and my partner ordered the Smashed avo on sour dough with poached egg and bacon. We also ordered a green tea and a soy flat white. Meals arrived in good time.

Green tea was good but the soy wasn't the best I've had.

The avo dish was ok, but could have been better. I would have preferred just avo but whatever was added left it a little sloppy. The bacon was nice but for my liking I would have preferred it cooked longer. The bread wasn't sour dough either. That said it was ok. My partner said her egg was a little undercooked but ok.

After a dreadful start to our birthday celebration lunch, we took ourselves off to No. 5. Nothing was a problem for the able, friendly team who went out of their way to make sure that the unhappy start to our dining excursion at another establishment did not spoil our celebrations. We were well and truly looked after, including a complimentary bottle of bubbles to celebrate the occasion. What's more, my two darling, well behaved granddaughters were WELCOMED!! Nothing of the slur against young children that was evident at our previous location. I can't thank the great crew at No. 5 enough for turning our day around and proving that nothing beats good old Kiwi hospitality. Do we rate them? Very definitely YES!!

What a huge disappointment! Not busy so no excuse for the poor service. Or the dreadful meal. Ordered a starter and requested it to come before the mains but they all came out together, no room on table for this so sent it back. Fish of the day Terakihi. WAS RUBBISH!! Straight out of a freezer, no way was fresh & tasted accordingly. Had to ask for cutlery, then ask for salt & pepper. Didn't finish our meals. Will never return!!! No one asked how our meals were or we would have told them. We wondered why they weren't busy on an Easter wkend, wow no doubt now!

On the advice of trip advisor we went here for breakfast. It was lovely. Sat outside in the sun and had the big breakfast and avocado, eggs and bacon. Yum. Then we shared the waffles. Had the berry but should have had the lemon curd. Well worth going out of town for this delight.

We'd asked about good cafes so that my partners parents could take us out for her Birthday. We were not disappointed...fantastic meals (apart from the maple syrup not being the real deal ;-p) and plenty of it as well. Then once you've eaten and relaxed for a short while you can go and have a quick round of mini golf.
Perfect place to stop for a meal...will certainly go back next time we have friends in town.
