Description: The Vic Brewbar is the South Island’s first fully-fledged Mac’s Brewbar. Found in the historic Victorian Rose building on Trafalgar Street and known by locals as the “Vic Rose”, the Brewbar is a unique Nelson pub and restaurant that offers live entertainment every weekend, great service from friendly staff, delicious food and all your favourite beers on tap. It’s no wonder The Vic is a staple of the local hospitality industry!

We were two couples out for a quick evening meal. You feel really ripped off when, as a group, you spend over $120, one drink each, two burgers and two starters, and receive food of such poor quality. Much lower grade than you would make at home. This is a restaurant, food professionals supposedly. They did not come up to the standard of a bad home cook.
A $20 burger should be something special. For $20 it should sing. Hell its only a burger. Not at all hard to do well. You should be receiving something to enjoy and remember. We got x2 dry, less than fresh buns. The patty, should be the high lite was dry, tasteless and hard as a rock. No seasoning. Scant tomato ring and a wee bit of mustard. The x3 cooked chips were flaccid, a bit soggy and so dame salty as to be inedible. If you can’t season chips correctly you should not be in business. Same with the onion rings. So much salt they were completely spoiled. The squid was tasteless. Like the cook was going through the motions of opening a packet and slapping it on a plate. No sparkle! Nothing to elevate it to the level of a professional kitchen. No effort or pride in the product. So over priced for less quality and flear than corner takeaway.

Really enjoyed our meal, and managed to get prime spots by accident for the great live music. Cheerful place, busy but the waitress for our table was attentive, cheerful, and really made our night

We enjoyed a casual meal at The Vic on a busy Friday evening. The fish of the day/clam chowder meal was superb and soooo filling, the steak equally as good. Staff were friendly and atmosphere welcoming. Would definitely recommend for a casual dining experience.

The food was fairly standard pub fare - at a good price and the place was warm and welcoming on a cold Sunday

Am Impromptu trip out for tea took us to the Vicbrew bar last Sunday. Had the $20 roast which came quickly and well presented on a large sharing platter. Great meal for the money, 3 big slices beautifully tender roast beef, Yorkshire pud, roasties, 3 veg and bottomless gravy. What’s not to love? We will be back ( and probably having the roast again!)
