An uphill walk that gives a wonderful view when you get to the top. It could be a bit of a challenge if you are not used to doing too much walking, but the path is easy to follow.

We stumbled across the sign for The Centre of NZ and decided to find it. This was a little tricky as the signposts were a bit vague but we finally found the track. It was quite a trek to the top of the hill with a lot of stops by me (I’m not fit!) but we were finally rewarded by an amazing view and found the spire. If you have a bit of time, it’s well worth the effort.
Gosh we were glad we made the effort to walk up here, what a stunning place. It's easy to reach, the path is well signed at the back of the park. And the views - WOW!
Well worth the walk! Easy path suitable for kids and adults . The view was fantastic at the very end!!!
Easily accessed from a nearby carpark. Walk was in total about 30-40 mins depending on your speed
Well worth doing if you're in the area. Steep walk up to the top (15-30 minutes depending on your fitness) but well worth the views. Parking alongside the park is free and is probably the nearest long term free parking to the city centre so a good place to leave the car and walk to Queens Gardens, the Cathedral and City Centre.
The climb is worth it – but it is steep. The guide says allow 20 mins, which is good advice. You can do it in less, (as we did) but you will feel it. The reward is the stunning view.
