A lovely and popular walk . The walk up gets you going but once at the top very worth it, it was a nice day and views were great, a nice walk near the town if short on time

As a Nelson resident for 4 1/2 months each year I have been going up the Centre of N.Z. for many years now since it provides the exercise I need as an 85 year old. It only takes 25 minutes to get a magnificent view of the city, over the bay to the Abel Tasman National Park and up the Maitai Valley. And one meets interesting peoplel of all nationalities there
If you’re in Nelson then it’s totally worth the walk to the geographic centre of New Zealand.
It’s about 20-30 minutes steep but fully patched walkway to the top & the view is spectacular.
If you want to see Nelson and the bay, head up here. Always popular a real Nelson treasure. Minutes from the city centre.
Go on, go for it.
Good steady walk to the viewing point
Great views overall of the sea and surrounding port area
This is part of the Nelson experience overall
Great things to do, Great cafes to visit
Nice walkway full of awesome views. But do go before the sun gets scorching hot (avoid going there between 12 noon and 3 pm)
