The moment we were greeted by hosts Joe and Kay it felt like we were visiting old friends. They have a beautiful house and garden with stunning ocean views. We stayed in one of the two guest rooms on the first floor and it was absolutely wonderful, especially the private porch looking out over the Tasman Bay.

We dined with Joe and Kay during our first night there, which ended up lasting several hours because we were having so much fun. This is optional but highly recommended if you are going to stay here (it is called a culinary experience after all!). Breakfast was equally delicious before we headed out to an excursion in the Abel Tasman National Park that Kay booked for us. She also booked reservations for us at one of her favorite local restaurants for that evening.

Joe and Kay really care about their guest's experience and try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. They also offer massages, but we weren't able to try them during our stay. We were sad to leave but hope to come back some time in the future.

Highly recommended!

The room was impeccable, with nice linen, own balcony, and access to the jacuzzi. The hosts were well-travelled, interesting, kindly and accomplished folks with a rip-roaring sense of humour. A highlight was the cooking class, featuring practical tips for preparing a gorgeous meal in a normal home kitchen. Every meal we shared with Joe and Kay was delicious and presented with true bonhomie. I particularly enjoyed the massage which was included in our package.

Room Tip: Please note there are two small dogs who customarily access the whole property.

Joe and Kay made us feel like family. Everything was comfortable, top notch and first rate. They offered great tips for daily excursions, dining and local places to see. Our cooking class was awesome and exactly what I had hoped for.

My wife and I were in New Zealand visiting a Kiwi friend in Christchurch. It was unusually cold and overcast for Summer there, so after a week we were craving some sun and beach.

I originally booked us for one night, because we planned to spend the rest in the nearby Abel Tasman park, but as soon as we saw Nelson, saw the B&B and met Joe & Kay we decided to skip part of our Able Tasman experience for another night in Nelson.

We've stayed at quite a few B&B's in several countries, and this was one of our best experiences. The location in Nelson is perfect, the view up on the hill is spectacular (especially while sitting in your jacuzzi), the food is fresh and delicious, but what really made the experience for us were Joe & Kay.

They're welcoming and helpful and truly good at what they're doing with A Culinary Experience. We can't imagine planning a return trip to New Zealand without a stay at their place.

Best regards,

Bryant & Celeste

Joe and Kay have a beautiful house and provide wonderful meals. The drive up the hill to get the stunning views is quite steep however so if you're driving make sure you have GPS and an automatic transmission.

Room Tip: The rooms have fabulous views over the bay of Nelson.
