Review of The Kitchen

The Kitchen
Ranked #37 of 212 Restaurants in Nelson
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$5 - US$15
Description: The Kitchen is a wholefoods cafe at its simplest. We want to inspire you to think differently about the fuel we put in our bodies, to encourage you that making plant based and healthy choices doesn't mean missing out, in fact it's quite the opposite. It's not about being perfect, it's about achieving life balance and wellness through better nutrition and food knowledge. We use the best local produce (organic where possible) and nationally sought suppliers who offer quality natural ingredients, to produce freshly made, tasty seasonal foods for your health and enjoyment. We serve amazing Kokako organic coffee, the freshest of cold pressed juice and on the spot superfood smoothies! so good.

The Kitchen on Bridge Street offers great beverages (turmeric tea is my wife's favourite), fresh and healthy foods, and even space out back to work on your laptop - or even rent their meeting room. Friendly staff and lots of windows to let the sun in - what more could you want?

We visited while in Nelson. It's a fantastic place! When you hear vege/vegan, sugar free, gluten free you must think it's pretty bland. But you'd be very much mistaken! The I had the banana waffles and my partner had the smashed avocado & pea toast. We also had the fresh pressed juice (classic beetroot/apple/lime...with fennel and chili!) And a salted caramel smoothy.
Then coffee and banana bread.
No review will do this justice! The perfect balance between high fat keto and earth friendly vegan/vegetarian.
LLLOOOOVVVEEEE!!!!

We went to The Kitchen the morning after arriving in NZ from London, and let me tell you their Flat White was the best remedy for jetlag! A gorgeous cafe - loved the decor, and our food was really nice too. Big portions and my husband enjoyed his first dukkah experience (uncultured Brit ;P) which was a great addition to our avo on toast. Hope to visit again on our next visit to the bright lights of Nelson.

Coffee was great! Ciabatta was tough, almost stale with little taste. Savoury muffin very salty. Threw both food items out.

A little treat if you are a vegan or vegetarian or health conscious eco conscious person. Has a great space, very bright and welcoming, lots of little nooks and crannies and outdoor seating. Coffee is yummy but no soy and no syrups unfortunately otherwise excellent overall.
