I have been lucky enough to travel the world! I spend a few months in India in 2016 and for a man that loves Indian food, it's hard to find any restaurant outside of India that passes the taste test. Upon arriving in Nelson I stumbled across The Indian Cafe and I can honestly say this is as close as you're going to get to eating Indian food outside of India. By far the best food I have had in 2017.

I can recommend this restaurant for those who are looking for a good curry. Second time there and same as the first, great service, great food and I go for the butter chicken.

Ordered two dishes, butter chicken and lamb korma, both had lots of sauce and were way too sweet, (cook fell over carrying the sugar bowl?), garlic naan was nice

Wonderful food and great service. Not the first time we've eaten there. Quality of service and food is consistent. This time we were a walk-in, no booking. Staff found us a table on a busy evening food was its usual great quality and the Kingfisher complemented it.

We've never had a bad experience dining at the Indian cafe and this time was as good as ever. Swift and courteous service and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant for those who are looking for a good curry.
