very special experience especially witnessing what mother nature can produce a spectacle such those near perfect round boulders stranded by the beach that took millennia to happen.

These things are huge! My wife is 5’8” , I have a photo of her standing next to one at it’s as tall as she is. Saw a few “cracked” open. Couldn’t tell what the rust colored interior lines at. If I didn’t know better I saw it was glue. Very interesting objects.

To think these boulders are ‘born’ of the cliffs and left for the sea to devour is simply a wonderful creation of nature. They are huge stone ‘marbles’ and quite amazing!

The tide was in when we arrived in the morning so many of the boulders were under or partially covered with water. We parked at the cafe and paid $2 to go down the stairs for a short walk. There are places to clean your shoes when you come back.

The rocks were really interesting and there was a great cafe and gift shop.

These are easy to access down the beach behind the cafe. Be sure to check the tide as arriving at high tide may disappoint. Another amazing natural wonder of New Zealand.
