We stayed here in an upstairs one bed apartment. The bedroom was at the back of the motel and overlooked a pre school so was very quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean as was the rest of the unit. The lounge/dining area was spacious with a large dining table, a coffee table and two settees, plus a single bed. Easy walking distance to the harbour area and restaurants. Overall a very pleasant stay and a warm welcome from the host. After our visit we recommended to friends who were in the area a few weeks later and they stayed here too.

Our overnight accommodation was booked by my travel agent. We had requested self contained but we’re disappointed that we only had a microwave with some cutlery & crockery in an overhead cupboard with no sink to wash dishes. My elderly mother is vision impaired & was unable to eat at the bench (provided instead of a table) as the lighting was very poor due to the small light attached to the underside of the overhead cupboard not working. There were also no face washers or bath mats provided. On the positive side the managers were very pleasant & helpful, the unit (though very dated) was clean, beds comfortable & we experienced minimal traffic noise intrusion

This is a well located motel with very friendly and helpful staff.
The motel is basic but has everything you need and is very clean and comfortable.
We were able to walk most destinations, however did drive as my mother in law is elderly with some walking difficulties.
I would recommend staying at the Alpine and if I return to Omaru I will stay again.
We travelled with my elderly mother in law who also found the property comfortable and my 4 year old.

Our booking elsewhere fell through as we were driving there during the busy summer season. We had to replan our trip and found this place on a fluke. The young man and woman who run it were very friendly and helpful. It's a plain-Jane motel on the side of the busy road, but we got their last room, a 2-bedroom with full kitchen. It was basic and in need of updating, but everything was spotless and it had everything we needed. We closed off the room we didn't need. Wifi was a little quirky and we had to keep getting new codes from the office, but other than that, it turned out to be a fine place to stay. Not a vacation resort, but clean, safe, and comfortable, which is what we look for. Recommended.

Very warm welcome. Large room with kitchenette, fairly basic and needed a bit of sprucing up but comfortable bed so all ok for one night stay to break up long journey. Oamaru was disappointing, especially the seafront, not pretty industrial rail tracks mainly but worth the visit if you walk on past the harbour and wait for the blue penguins to come home in the evening.
