We’re in town visiting family and we’re recommended a visit to Riverstone Kitchen.

I don’t normally order roast chicken but it, along with the pan fried fish, came highly recommended by our waitress.

It was divine! This is a very high performing kitchen and the wait crew are fantastic.

Thank you for a great lunch!

We were looking for somewhere to stop on our way to Christchurch and popped in here. So pleased, it is a lovely place to relax and have a look around. The staff were really friendly and we had a good coffee and wander around before continuing our journey - would certainly recommend.

Good, efficient online booking system.
Good service, interesting deli corner in the restaurant.
The Venison Curry with cauliflower, peanuts and crispy (? not really) shallots had the right spiciness but was not too exciting. The Pan fried fish with fennel and lemon risotto was much better but again not really to write home about it.
The Pear Tarte Tatin was poorly plated and not a real Tarte Tatin but it was tasty.

Stopped to view the castle and have morning tea on the way back to Christchurch from Oamaru. The coffee was very good and they had some nice snack type food. A full menu was also offered. Service was good and restrooms clean. While you are there spend some time in the " gift shop" - as facinating as the castle itself .

Magnificent food, incredible setting with Dots dream castle in the background, manacured gardens where produce is planted picked and enjoyed fresh.
An absolute must stop , must shop and must stay for at least several hours.
Wonderful boutiquie funky but fabulous gift shops and if you see the effivecient red haired flamboyant Dot Smith, make sure to introduce yourself...she will always have time to talk, a generous soul and a lifestyle game changer ....
