The people appeared friendly enough but they really need to look around at what else is available nearby at better rates. This should be advertised (and priced accordingly) as a cheap backpackers guest house. Very old and run down & should have reinvested in maintenance.
My sister and I had a carcrash and had to go home. We were stranded. Our travelagent made a reservation at this Lodge; a light in time of our needs. Picked up very!!! friendly by Scott. At first we thouht the lodge was old en everything but nice...WRONG indeed (as early Linda D. discribed). It is old but very clean, nice extra's in giving you a feeling home far from home. Scott is a very friendly guy and helps you where-ever he can. Thank you! We're safe home now.
Single woman staying in a hotel where the front door did not even lock. Noisy rooms and unprofessional staff.
Very expensive and no customer service. Dangerous avoid this place. Run down and in need of repairs.
Booked here at the last minute so we didn't have to drive to Akl overnight. I thought sharing a bathroom would be fine, Then I began to read some of the reviews and decided I'd made a huge mistake. WRONG...it was absolutely fine. Scott was friendly showing us around. Recommended places to eat or buy if we wanted to cook our own food. Our room was spotless with fresh linen. The bathroom across the hall was adequate, lots of hot water. The dining/sitting room was huge,clean and warm. No it wasn't the Ritz or even a Travelodge but it was a clean budget lodge as described and I would definitely go again
We arrived late at the airport and were picked up within 20 minutes. Driver (who was also the front desk guy) was incredibly friendly and positive, answered some questions, and shared some stories with us. Check in was swift and there was a fireplace with couches in the room next to the lobby for us to warm up in and relax before bed. Room was nice, large comfy bed, didn't smell. There was a picture of a horse on the bed cover and kittens on the coffee mugs which tells you this isn't some fancy resort, but very cozy and homely. We joked with the guy that worked there (who, by the way, was the one to pick us up late at night when we arrived, checked us in, as well as drove us to the airport at 4am, all with a jolly and fun attitude) about the mugs and horse cover and he laughed, said it must have been his daughter to choose those things.
Family-run and a nice place to stay. Definitely recommend if you need to stay somewhat near the airport and if you don't care about it being super fancy.
(Also, shuttle service to/from the airport is not included- believe it was $7/person per way.)
