Checkin staff very good. Room was okay apart from thick dust on all surfaces and glasses and cups dusty. It appeared that they had not moved since covid days.
Attentive staff in resturant and bar. But unfortunately that was were it ended.
We both ordered steak which was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering which was a little suspicious. It was cold tasteless and extremely oily and full of fat and gristle which was inedible presented like stewing steak not ribeye. Vegtables consisting of runner beans asparagus,carrot and a half picked onion with cold and crusted potato gratin of sorta, none had any taste apart from water and oil.
This was a cost of $43 each.
We bought the issue to the attention of the resturant staff who's english was basic who didn't seem to care.we then spoke to another member of staff about the meal he also was not bothered stating the menu is being changed next week. By this time we were over it.
Thank goodness air new zealand had booked and paid for our overnight accommodation and meals.
Never again to this hotel and resturant. We usually overnight at the Ibis staff there really care and get what you pay for.
Considering our local bar in Invercargill called The Newfield we can get good quality steak for $23.and far superior in taste and presentation.
