Amazing little cafe, great service, beautiful food and good coffee!! Beautiful spot on a rainy day to have coffee or beer and play a board game or two!

Everything here is definitely superb. The excellent service and the friendliness of the staffs and owner Kevin. They are very welcoming to anyone especially tourist like us. During our stay in Kaikoura mostly dine here at Craypot only only once or twice we tried somewhere else because they were still closed. We didn't want to take chances and explore because we were very much contented with everything they offer. You've got it all here. Good food, relaxing place for all ages. They have complimentary computer to use and free wifi which is very fast. Good craft beer and very friendly atmosphere. Even when we have waited for the bus we only stayed at Craypot drinking and eating until our ride arrived. A must try is the SEAFOOD CHOWDER. To Die for.

This cafe was different from the rest, we sat beside a book shelf full of books and games which was a nice changes. Played games before and after our meals. Both had an open chicken sandwich with chips, quite plain but definitely edible. No aioli for me due to dairy intolerance which may have been the reason for lack of flavour. Service was good, staff were friendly & food came out in reasonable time. Looked to be a decent selection of alcoholic and no alcohol drinks. Relaxed atmosphere.

I worked as a barista for two months in this restaurant, it was a great experience !
The owners, Kevin and Ann, are great people, they really care about the customers and the quality of the food and drinks.
I would say it's the best place in town for craft beers, and best place for relaxing for hours while eating great food, drinking great coffee or great craft beers.
The kids area is the perfect place if you want to relax with the childrens, we had a hard time cleaning up this kids area every evening but it was great to see the kids having fun with all the toys.
The seafood chowder is also relly really really really amazing ! Try It !!

Our family of four went here for lunch after a Dolphin swim. They have a great local beer selection, and we had a delicious meal. They were busy but willing to make a special main sized vegan salad form my daughter that actually tasted really good, and contained legumes and quinoa (protein!). The rest of us had seafood chowder and fish & chips. It was excellent.
