We were looking for information so i-SITE is obvious (plenty of parking in their large carpark helped) The building is modern and well stocked with brochures etc. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and gave us information about attractions and some about last year's earthquake.

The staff in Kaikoura i-Site Vistior Information Centre are friendly and helpful and informed us about places to visit in Kaikoura and the free cheese tasting in town.

We met with two ladies in the facility who were pleased to provide up to the minute details about the area. They gave us guide maps for local trails and pointed out the best route to follow in in the time we had available. We went on about a 45-minute walk that took us from the car park up to the Whale Watch, down to the shore line where we walked thru the seal colony and finally back to the car park. It took about 45 minutes. The walk was a bit treacherous out by the shore because the tide was coming in.

Looked around for accommodation recommendations. Only 1 couple in the I site so not busy. No one greeted us till we opened the door to leave. A friendly hello goes a long way. Decided to drive the 2 hours home instead.

Cold day so a welcome place for respite from the weather. A great array of information set out well. Helpful and welcoming person behind the desk.
