“Very good visit”
Review of Fyffe House

We had only one hour to visit but it was extraordinarily good. Being members of the UK National Trust we gained entry free of charge. however, we would have been very happy to pay the admission charges.
It was a delight to see the details of the past owners, The Fyfe, Fyffe, Goodall and Low families and how they used and changed this cottage.
We understand that the cottage is closed since the Kaikoura earthquake in November 2016, a week after we visited, but when it re-opens please make every effort to visit. A fantastic and fascinating site with immense insights into the evolution of Kaikoura.

Lovely warm welcome and introduction to the house history. Broader information freely provided about the local area including great tips for dining and other places to visit too. Such enthusiasm and knowledge is a wonderful asset in promoting Kaikoura. Go there!

I loved this place - fascinating history, and much of it is relatively recent!
The information attached to the well-presented displays is really interesting and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I was fascinated by some of the uses for whalebone and also the reason for the building being pink!!

This smallish house is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is lots of info about the early settlement days in NZ when it was used as a whalers cottage and after that up until 1980 when it was given to the NZ heritage trust.

This house gives you the chance to experience a glimpse of life as it was lived from the start of settlement in the Kaikoura area. Well presented and well thought out displays.
