I visited this museum before it moved to its new premises. They have been able to pr sent a lot of interesting artefacts in a user friendly way. The focus is on the history of the Kaikoura area but as an organisation run by volunteers they do an excellent job.

Thanks for the review Michelle. The new set up is certainly a bit different from the old Museum isn't it? I so agree that our volunteers do an amazing job! We do have a few part time paid staff but it is no exaggeration to say we couldn't run this place with out the help of our talented and loyal team of volunteers.

Well worth a visit - very well presented displays on local historyt, Including whaling and the earthquake in 2016. Lots of good information on the abundant wildlife found here, and the part it has played in shaping the way of life on the Kaikoura peninsula.
Highly recommended

As static displays go , this museum presents info in an interesting way. There is a lot of reading to do but written in a good narrative. The current photo slideshow showing images from just after the recent earthquake is very interesting and shoes real community spirit.
