The Fairways is one of the nicer properties in Kaikoura. With a price of just under $400 a night it's also at the higher end price-wise.

The buildings are great. Roomy apartments, decent kitchen, and bathrooms.

The reason for our average review is the service.
We were given an apartment with a broken toilet. We had 2 and were only there 2 nights, so I didn't bother saying anything, but with Covid and plenty of empty rooms I'm sure a 2 bed apartment without a broken toilet would be available.

The hosts make a big deal of the service part of serviced apartments. We were asked three times if we'd like a service and that we had to put a note on the door if we did, which we did.

The service was non-existent. Absolutely no cleaning was done. It consisted only of replacing used toiletries and amenities such as dishwasher tablets. The kitchen is large and designed to be cooked in, which we did. The service didn't even include wiping it down - with no cleaning products to do so, we had to drive to the supermarket to buy our own spray and wipe to clean the kitchen.
Bathrooms sinks weren't wiped down, no vacuuming, absolutely nothing.

Apart from that, it was fine, rooms are nice, though the blinds in the main bedroom let a lot of light in if you are in bed.
BBQ is available for you to use, then clean yourself.
TV channel list is poor.
Gardens are lovely, location is nice and the buildings are lovely (large windows, high ceiling etc).
A comfy stay, but if feels like the property managers are over their heads.

Room tip: Unit 2 has nice evening sun.

A great place to stay, just outside Kaikoura, but oh so close. Calm and coutoured, this accommodation is beautifully presented, well resourced, and neat as a pin. The beach is literally across the road, the golf course is a pitching wedge away, and the majestic mountains seem close enought to touch. You won't be dissappointed. Andrew and his family are fabulous hosts and go the extra mile to make your stay both relaxing and memorable. Well worth a visit.

Our family recently stayed here and loved the peacefulness of this location. The apartment was well equipped with underfloor heating in the two bathrooms and a lovely gas fire. Kitchen was well equipped and only thing lacking was a sharp knife.

We loved our 2 bed apartment, super clean and very comfortable beds. Gorgeous spot just past the town centre with lovely views of the mountains. Very quiet, easy parking, and the apartment was lovely and sunny. Well equipped kitchen and the gas fire was a nice ambience. The kids loved the big spa bath. We'd definately stay here again.
