A rugged and exposed stony beach, but scenic in its own way. Can be very windy, so you can have a very invigorating walk along here.

I love stony beaches and driftwood - so I actually loved this beach. It was also quite clean - very little rubbish was seen by me.
But in one direction it is obvious there has been some trouble with erosion. Then around the town area they have a kind of stone wall... but no paths down to the beach. So it can be a bit precarious to get down to the beach - take care.

Great spot to watch the sun go down into the ocean. Lots of driftwood on the pebble beach. Close to town

Short walk behind our Airbnb. There was lots of driftwood around. We had fun just strolling and waiting for the sun to go down. The lighting was amazing. If you enjoy taking pictures, it is a good place to set up your tripod and enjoy it.

I really enjoyed my visit to Hokitika Beach! It was a lovely overcast day, and the gritty, rocky coast was beautiful. The sculpture on the beach just added even more mystique to the unconventional beauty of this place. If you like unusual and offbeat destinations like I do, this one does not disappoint.
