Nice hosts in a place with charm

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Mar 2024
This place is a bit dated but has charming hosts. It is located in the centre of Hokitika with several sites within walking distance. There is ample free parking in front of the place. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. The room was a little cramped with large comfortable beds and a bathroom across the hall. The shower curtains vacuum into the stall but the shower has good hot water as you take a shower. There was some street noise with the windows open. There is no air conditioning but a fan was provided and the room did cool off at night. The breakfast was good and tasty. They provide a beautiful common room with free sherry or port. The electrical outlets tended to cut out after 20 minutes of use.
Overall, it was not good value for money.

We had the warmest welcome from our hosts, a lovely room in the garden which included a jacuzzi bath and a great breakfast with homemade muffins at a table with the other guests . Couldn’t better it.
Very easy walk to restaurants and craft shops.

The hosts here went out of their way to help us out when we had been let down with a booking elsewhere. We don't normally stay in B&Bs but had a wonderful experience here. Greeted with homemade biscuits and tea. The bedroom had comfortable bed, great shower, fresh milk for tea as required. Breakfast was delicious using local produce including boysenberry jam and Manuka Honey. The hosts couldn't do enough for us, advice on outings and interesting historical local knowledge. Provided with insect repellent to fight off the midges on our walks. Very kind and helpful. Would highly recommend.

We totally and absolutely recommend Teichelmanns. Hands down the best place to rest your weary bones after riding the bike trails. Sumptuous surroundings provided by gracious hosts, and beautifully prepared breakfasts each morning.

Francis and Bryan went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home.

We stayed one night at this old fashioned B&B. It was great! Our hosts Francis and Brian were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was comfortable and airy with exclusive use of a shower and toilet across the hall.
A good breakfast was a communal affair with other guests and our hosts. It felt very homely.
As it was pouring with rain when we checked out Brian kindly walked us to our car with an umbrella as we carried our bags. Service doesn’t get much more personal than that.
Highly recommended.

Hi
Yes we apologise about the weather !!! It was raining just a small amount, ( for our neck of the woods) but enough to warrant an umbrella. !!!! Hope you found some sunshine later on. Thanks so much for your comments. It was a pleasure to be just a small part of your trip to NZ.
Cheers
