Beautiful Bed and Breakfast

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Mar 2019
Located right in Hokitika with easy access to everything, what a warm and cosy B&B this is. Beautifully managed by the hosts who are a fountain of local knowledge and gave great advice on local places to visit and eat. The warm atmosphere rubbed off on the guests and made it all the better for information exchange. Beautiful shared lounge for relaxation. Really enjoyed our stay here. WiFi was way better than the average we came across in NZ

Had such a nice stay! Wonderful rooms and great beds -- slept so soundly with the sound of the ocean in the distance!

Brian and Francis were wonderful hosts and such a delight to talk with about Hokitika and the West Coast in general. And Francis's breakfasts were wonderful with quite a variety of offerings for the continental breakfast and good portion of cooked eggs!

Such a lovely town to just go for an evening's walk after dinner ... a delightful oasis from the "tourist towns" I had visited further south! House is near the town center, but on a quiet side street.

We had such a lovely visit at Teichelmann's and Brian and Francis were wonderful hosts. Brian was full of local history and was able to answer our many questions about New Zealand! Their hospitality made for a warm environment. Our breakfast was delicious, but what made it truly enjoyable was the effort Brian and Francis put into including all the guests in the breakfast conversation. We had a delightful stay, and found Hoitika to be a lovely town.

We arrived in the late afternoon totally drenched after a jet boat ride to see white herons (in a nearby area) which had concluded with a rain and sleet downpour. Brian and Frances had seen the weather reports and knew we would likely be arriving wet and tired. The garden cottage was waiting for us with its double spa bath! They hung our wet clothing in their furnace room so that it would be dry and warm the next morning. The bed was great and the breakfast the next morning with its many options was delicious. Brian and Frances both knew the area well and offered information about tourist areas and highways that was extremely useful. Loved this B & B.

How nice to hear from you both.It was a pleasure to help, our 3 meters of rain a year can be quite daunting. We wish you both a Happy New Year, all the very best for 2019.

It is a short stay between the glaciers and Christchurch, pity that we could not stay longer in this B&B.

Frances and Brian are very nice hosts. Their restaurant recommendation is pretty good. Their B&B is beautiful, clean and well maintained. The bed is warm and comfortable too.

Breakfast is simply perfect, the homemade muesli is a good match with the yogurt. They provide hot breakfast too. It is a good start of the day with a big hearty breakfast.

This is a gem hidden in this little seaside town. If you have a chance to visit Hokitika you definitely should stay there.

Room tip: Any room is a perfect room.

Excellent place to stay. Hokitika is a quirky little town, worth spending some time in. Great fun to sit outside a coffee shop and people watch before heading off to the Hokitika Gorge for a “tramp” about.

Frances and Brian are wonderful hosts, the bedrooms are really homely and comfortable and breakfast is top notch.

Definitely 5*!
