Beautiful nature! The glow worms are delightful. It is obviously very dark so you will need to tread carefully

Only a short walk or drive from town, this is a hidden gem. At night the glow worms are spectacular. Winter is a great time to visit with smaller kids due to the longer nights, you can be there and back well before bed-time!

It was obviously beautiful but you must go at nigh5 and it is hard to navigate through the track, very wet when we went but it is really an amazing sight when you reach the end and see all the glow worms, if staying in Hokitika make sure to pay a visit!

The place is just across the road opposite the Shining Star hotel.
It's a small enclosure surrounded by trees and bushes.
Visit after dark... In fact it should be pitch black. You get to see amazing twinkling tiny blueish lights once your eyes get adjusted to the dark.
It is a quiet place... No need to buy tickets or anything... Can go there any number of times

We camped right across the road from this, was a real treat at the end of a rainy day. Took about 2 mins to walk to from the road, absolutely beautiful and completely free! Interesting information plaque on the way in. Remember to keep torch lights low/angled to the ground on the approach in as they do spoil the view. Well worth a look.
