Not a three star use as a last resort

Review of Breeze Motel
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Feb 2017
arrived after booking with booking.com the rooms are antiquated , old furniture with holes in it, old old kitchen the TV is from the 90's place looks ancient. Shower facility is old Im not sure how anyone actually fits into it. This should not be rated as a 3 star a 1 rating would suffice and thats been generous. The reception area you could see into their living quaters and the floor was littered with socks, washing and general un- tidyness after travelling the South Island and using booking.com and been more than happy with accommodation we could not believe this hotel s in as much we drove from Greymouth straight through to Christchurch and did not stay in the room forfeiting $100.00 of the $150.00 we were to be charged if we used this facility.

The reception looked not very clean. The manager offered us a room which seems very dark inside. When he saw our disappointness, he showed us a bigger room at the end of a row. We decided to accept that one. Furniture is old, kitchen and TV as well. For one night its OK to stay, but than its enough This hotel should be a good place to welcome for instance backpackers.

Clean room and bed. A good shower. Certainly not a hotel room you would sit and relax in but for an overnight sleep and morning shower it is hard to fault. On the main road, easy to find and friendly staff.

Were met by the owner in bare feet pants around his knees and didn't speak.Rooms are musty and grossly over price. I would not recommend staying. We stayed only because everywhere else was booked.The only plus it is really close to CBC.

We stayed here for a couple of nights, and with the high summer season, this was the only twin room left available in the vicinity.

Broadly speaking, it was satisfactory. Except that a few details, many of which could be easily remedied, let them down:

* Oven had been disabled
* Heater non-operational and we had to request a portable space heater
* Hair dryer didn't work
* No smoke alarms
* Curtain on entrance door was wafer-thin and let light from outside shine in all night

On positive note, the cat, Cosmic, has a friendly nature and we welcomed him into our unit.

The pricing on this high season occasion meant this wasn't good value for money, but if you strike a good deal and set your expectations accordingly, you will find it quite adequate.

Location is close to town centre and railway station.
Good for overnight stopover, antiquated however the rooms are large, clean ,and practicable. Motel is easy to locate and easily accessible from main road.
Prices are reasonable.

Room tip: Basic but comfortable. rooms to the rear would quieter re traffic noise.
