I have just spent a wonderful night in the B&B. The room was very well presented, with a huge bathroom. Breakfast was superb. Next time I will also have dinner, as I have heard great things about it. I arrived early, and had time to kill, so it was great that there was a guest lounge with an excellent selection of CDs, books and DVDs. The host, Andy, was very friendly and approachable. The location is about 10 minutes out of Whangarei, and 15 minutes from Tutakaka,

Warmly welcomed by Andy to Lupton lodge. Interesting historic lodge with newer additions ie ensuites, games room, swimming pool & dining room. Stayed in red room at front of house. Shower unit, but no bath ( didn't create a problem for us though) Not quite sure how Andy does it but he appears to host, cook and serve alone ( maybe there's just a good behind the scenes team??!!) great email communications prior to visit which was appreciated. helpful advice re: travel plans for next day plus useful travel DVD in room. Some newer style furnishings and artwork together with older pieces. Pleasant one night stay - many thanks.

We stayed one night in the Purple room, and had dinner that evening. Andy was a very good host, and delivered great food during our brief stay. Very relaxing location, and the room was exceptional - beautifully decorated and extremely spacious. The ensuite shower room was also amazing. We wished we could have stayed longer - maybe next time!

We stayed at Lupton Lodge on the first night of a two week trip around the Northland to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We selected Lupton Lodge in Whangerei based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed.

It's about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Auckland International Airport to Whangerei, so it was a convenient place to spend the night after a mid-afternoon flight arrival in Auckland, By the time we had cleared customs, arranged mobile phone/broadband SIMs from (Telecom NZ and Vodafone) and signed the paperwork for our rental car, it was nearly 5pm by the time we left the airport. We had previously arrange a later arrival at Lupton Lodge with our host, Andy, and we had discussed diner arrangements with him.

It was still late twilight when we arrived and we had no trouble locating Lupton Lodge. Our room was the "Blue" room, with a attached sitting room and an en-suite bathroom. The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. After settling in we enjoyed a wonderful evening meal - my wife had Moroccan Lamb and I had a Thai Beef Curry.

Since we needed to be on our way promptly in the morning we didn't have a chance to enjoy the guess lounge or other amenities, but did greatly enjoy the cooked breakfast.

Lupton Lodge is a grade 2 heritage listed building and has a wonderful atmosphere. We did take a few moments before we left to walk around the extensive grounds which are well maintained.

Thanks to Andy and Karen for their hospitality!
