“A bit like a British pub”
Review of Kensington Tavern

As its name suggests this is a Tavern, also known as a pub, so it should not come as a surprise it has a bar and you order drinks at food at counters.
It is basic fare, but the food we had was hot, well cooked and tasty.
The bar is very well stocked.
Atmosphere good as it was full of locals.

We were new to town and restaurant and therefore not aware the restaurant was self seating, order food at counter and order beverages at the bar. No staff offered to direct us and although we were the only ones seated in the dining room no one offered to direct us. We realized after being seated a few minutes with no service to go to counter. Staff taking orders very unfriendly. We got fish and chips which were greasy with very thick batter. Fish was not flavorful.
Also not idea raspberry lemonade would be a sparkling beverage!

Fishermans basket. No mussels and not told. Uncooked skinny fries. Frozen faux calamari rings. One small tub tatare sauce. Lousy rude service.

Booking was made for a family group of 40, then ended up close to 60, but tables were reserved for our group, meals were large and well presented,
Staff were really nice and very accommodating with our extra dinner guests.
Quite a busy place, and we really enjoyed our night...
