My wife and I lucked onto The Walton Street Cafe recently, when we arrived in Whangarai looking for a light lunch. We were greeted like old friends, which immediately made us feel at home.
My wife had the avocado, cream cheese special served on a pumpkin-seed bagel, and loved it. I opted for the eggs Benedict with salmon. I often order eggs "benny" when I go out for breakfast or brunch, and I can honestly say this among the best I have ever tasted. The salmon portion was fresh and very generous. The eggs were poached just right, and the hollandaise sauce was perfection.
The handcrafted flat whites were creamy and strong, and perfect pick-me-ups for the drive ahead.
