Good espresso and bruschetta at a reasonable price.
Enjoyable outdoor setting.
Shame this little gem is not open for dinner.

very very very bad. i went there with a friend who could not eat bacon and they would refuse to change it. a waitress called jaimee continued to bang her hands on the counter and shout at us. we were very scared and felt discriminated. never going there again.
Delicious brunch. We both had omelettes which were great. Very friendly wait staff and excellent service.
First visit to the Elm Cafe and excited to see kedgeree on the menu. So disappointed with the offering. The rice was so very dry, bland and tasteless and it was a futile search to find pieces of smoked fish. Not a kedgeree in my opinion. Sad to see a good cafe be mean on the ingredients. Cost was $21.00. Not good enough
On entering the first thing I noticed was the noise and the drab beige decor. The windows are high up so there is no viewing outside except for the front. However the friendly welcome from the staff made up for it.There is alfresco dining in the front on warmer days and they allow pets outside. They are not open for dinner but offer Nz craft beer and wine and have an extensive menu pricing up to $30.
There is cabinet food for those on the run and an assortment of cookies in jars. There are magazines to read, caution with the tables as they have a tendency to tip.
