I came in to what seemed a modernised old school bakery truck stop, it was nice and warm cosy, with just enough light to have a nice feel to it. The music playing in the background was perfect choices, with old school hits by Jason Mraz

The staff are so lovely and friendly, and great people to have a chat to. I ordered the kumara hash which was suggested to me, it came out fast, nice and warm and cracked pepper was offered to top it off.

The poached egg was cooked perfectly, bacon cooked crispy and the hash was immaculate, crispy on outside warm and fluffy on inside. Just the right balance of flavours. It looked a bit small when it came out, but did it feel me up. Was just the right size for one, could be shared I guess, but would prob need an extra of something.

Overall nice little place with free wifi, warm and cosy with descent coffee. I would for sure come again! 5 stars!

Oh my, so it was a girls get together dinner...it had been a few years...however the Elm hadn't changed at all. The service was still incredible, the food delicious, the chef still smiling and that Pate...

If you haven't got time to stop, then order the pate to take away. Thanks Elm for making my return to P/North so memorable.

I love this cafe. It is open during the day and into the evening. Whenever you go there you get friendly, efficient service with fantastic, tasty food. The parking can be tricky at times but usually it is fine. I love going there to meet friends for coffee or to have an early evening dinner.

So what is the attraction that keeps bringing us back. The decor is Ok and the location is a wee bit out of town, but this is a serious place to dine. We attended with a group of 7 and were immediately ( and as previously visited) impressed with the staff. Friendly, attentive and informative. Nothing seems a problem here. We can bring our own wine ( corkage applies) but this allowed us to share our favourite bottles with each other..a huge bonus.

The fact that one can select from the main dining menu or the Brassiere menu allowed us to mix and match. The pate was had as was the salt and pepper prawns. Both were terrific.

Beef fillet, and pan fried fish were the major mains and both were also cooked to perfection, both being moist and tasty. From the other menu the beef, and duck was the chosen items..and again they were cooked to perfection. Whoever is cheffing here, this is a serious place to get lovely food.

Creme Brûlée was the choice for desert and our Brûlée officinados, loved this desert. And after all they are the taste gurus in our group so cant be ignored.

The wine list is very adequate and unlike some places the cost is very reasonable. Nice to see a desert wine on the list as well..which is something we like.

We have been here a few times now, and this place continues to impress, with the staff, the pricing and the very good food. Well done to you, and we will be back.
