I did stay at this Hotel over 30 years ago and it is indeed showing it's age. We understand that the owners are progressively updating their properties.
However the room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant/dining room well serviced by dedicated staff. Thanks Chef for one of the best lamb shanks I've had and my wife's salmon was spot on.
This is a tired old place which needs serious attention. It has retained its old worlds vibe but it needs a serious spruce up.
The only good thing I can say is the shower had great pressure. Otherwise the motel room was grubby. Carpet was filthy, curtains ripped and I wouldn’t sit on the couch it was grimy. The bed needs replacing as does the bed covers. Sheets seemed clean.
It has a restaurant which is handy but food was disappointing. Ordered pork belly. A very small piece arrived (nicely cooked) on some shredded red cabbage and three small pieces of Broccoli with a bit of jus. $36. No carb at all. I was left wanting after spending less than 5 mins eating that morsel. Ordered peach cobbler which was a lazy crumb over a small bowl of believe it or not ‘tinned peaches’ and a small scoop of supermarket ice cream. $16
All in all dissapointing. Will not return.
Good parking, free parking, decent hearty breakfast, good value for money, old style hotel rooms ok, comfortable bed, good bathroom facility and shower pressure, no frills but all a weary traveler needs
I make a point when I can to make positive reviews on my travels. I'm really struggling with this place. There's nothing terrible about it. I wouldn't be reviewing it at all but for one incident. My first day, my room was not serviced at all. I returned back after work around 5pm on the 2nd day (today) to find my room's door wide open, the lights on, the room had been serviced but there were no staff around at all. Rooms get serviced soon after 10am. That's why they make us check out. So, my room could have been open all day. No one was servicing rooms at or slightly before 5pm.
I informed reception. They said "sorry" and "I'll let the cleaners know". That's it. I've yet to go back and check if anything has been stolen. If not, it's certainly more good luck than good management.
The place smells musty and has worn carpet to the concrete base with torn curtains. This place is not 4 stars. It is not cheap. I'm usually not fussed about small things like worn carpet and torn curtains but it's not like I'm getting a word carpet discount. The smell is just sad.
And, I wouldn't be saying any of this privately or publicly if it wasn't for the door thing and the poor response to it.
Also, FYI, there are 2 Distinction Hotels in this town. Choose wisely.
DO NOT STAY HERE! What a disgusting disgrace of a room. Woken up all night long from the horrendous trampoline bed. The beds are unsleepable with every movement multiplied by 1000. You will need a chiropractor after a night they're THAT bad! The black out curtains aren't wide enough to stop the outside light beaming into the room like a ray of constant sunshine. We were over charged and under delivered on the room. Paid for a separate room with a single in the lounge to find they'd put us all together which was a cheaper room. The room had stains every where and hadn't been dusted. I wouldn't recommend anybody stay here. I've gone out of my way to write this at 5am in a terribly uncomfortable bed because I'm that dissatisfied. After finally getting to sleep the television switched on like some sort of alarm and woke us all up.
