Thanks Karena for making our stay so easy. Double checking flight details so to collect us from the airport, offering to take us into town for late night takeaway pick up, sharing his story and storing our stuff for the day while up at the uni. Room simple as per the price we signed up for however thoughtfully pre-warmed. Awesome dinner suggestions. Totally rate Haru in town. Thanks again Karena!

We spent Easter weekend at a family reunion based in this motel. Use of the conference facilities was great BUT - 'How to put the hostility into hospitality'. All our bookings had been done by Margaret who was really helpful & accommodating & very pleasant. UNFORTUNATELY she was away for Easter and we had the full brunt of her male offsider! Yes we also experienced the "Well you can go find another motel" when HE messed up the room bookings and decided that he could just put our adult niece into our room so when we arrived our room was taken. We managed to sort a solution, but then later in the day the room arrangement was put back to what we had all booked and it became resolved. Perhaps he had a telephone conversation with his partner? Room we eventually had definitely needed some attention with the duster and vacuum cleaner. So a lesson for anyone staying at this NZ version of Fawlty Towers - you need to deal with Cybil...

Well presented and laid out unit for a family of 5. Mezzanine floor with large king bed and kids downstairs in separate room. Roomy kitchen/living area. Friendly staff and close to the Esplanade gardens and riverwalks.

I booked the studio which is tucked away. Spacious and comfortable. But what blew me away was the warmth of the host both in welcome and looking after me. This is more than a bunk. A gem to stay with some very special people. Highly recommend.

We booked on an online website for a studio for one night and received a confirmation email. Due to the website being unfamiliar to us, my husband phoned the motel to confirm it was legitimate which it was, however, they informed him they only wanted minimum two night bookings. About 10 minutes later we received an email saying the room had been double booked and we needed to cancel the booking. Then began email correspondence back and forth with us saying we did not want to cancel and had a confirmation email. They offered us a far more expensive room for a two night minimum stay - we only required a one night stay. We refused this. We then received an email saying it was Expedias fault, some problem with their website and to contact them. We did this and were informed there was no problem with their website and they would endeavour to sort this out with the motel. The next email we received was from Expedia saying that our booking had been cancelled due to the room being under maintenance !!! We complained to the Asure group head office about this experience and were forwarded the motel's response which denied all blame and said they offered us another room - failed to mention for a compulsory extra night that we couldn't use and also for a much higher rate. Also blamed Expedia for the whole fiasco. So someone is telling lies - Expedia? the motel? leave it up to the readers to decide.

Hello Michelle,

Upon spending time reviewing our booking systems, current partnerships with OTA companies, as well as our highly commended customer service and business model. We are very satisfied with the outcome, which Expedia took full responsibility for. Your contact with ASURE Head Office, led to our very supportive & astute directors complimenting us on our professional approach to this matter. We consider this closed, and will not enter into any further discussions on this particular matter.
