A group of 10 adults, a toddler and a baby have just enjoyed three days, celebrating a birthday and a family reunion, with the majority of guests from interstate, at the very comfortable and welcoming Straw House. There is plenty of room in the house, with two large living areas, roomy bedrooms, large dining table, good kitchen, and plenty of room outside. We appreciated the children's toys which were available. We look forward to a return visit at some stage.
The good: large, quiet, comfortable and very well equipped. Allow dogs which adds to the family holiday :-)
The not quite so good (nothing major that can't be managed). Being located well south of MR most of the family attractions are a car ride away. Not sure why dogs not allowed in bedrooms - obviously not on beds or furniture, but with rugs taken up on the floor? No full screen for the wood burning stove so with toddlers in tow not very practical to use it. Finally mice eat there way through more food than we could.....understanding it's a farmhouse, but maybe some advice pre travel with regard to packing foodstuffs!
Overall good for a large party to share the cost with plenty of chill out space. Have already recommended to others.
Large house amongst the farms just out of Witchcliffe. Stayed with 10 friends over the Leeuwin concert weekend. Rustic with 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Large stocked kitchen and dining with a pool table and table tennis table in a shed adjoining the main house.
Great place to stay with a large group or a couple of family's.
Huge house for a large family or extended family. Great facilities on quiet property with farm animals. Carolyn left us a tasty cake and bottle of wine and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. It was great to have a library, dvds , board games, table tennis and pool table which were well used. Would definitely recommend.
Stayed here for a week before Christmas and it's a loveley house for a big family gathering with plenty of room for everyone including downstairs lounge plus a huge family room upstairs for watching films / playing games etc. Don't forget to visit the boat ramp at Hamelin Bay to see the stingrays while you're here!
