We (group of 6 adults and 3 children) celebrated my brother in law's birthday at the Carrington last night. Unfortunately, they didn't get a lot of things right. The meals mostly took a long time to come out, although my father's steak came out first and then there was a gap of around 20 minutes before everyone else's food came out. Other people that arrived and ordered after us we served their meals before us. My 4 year old daughter waited an hour for her kid's meal - we ordered sausage and chips but they were out of sausages so we changed to chicken nuggets and chips. My wife had calamari with chips and salad. Both lots of chips were soggy. We could smell the calamari as it was being brought out, so maybe it wasn't fresh. My porterhouse was ok, but lacking a little flavour even with the Dianne sauce. The wait staff were very apologetic about the time we'd waited and offered a complimentary bottle of wine or a dessert. We opted for a dessert because we were driving. The desserts were good. On the bill, we were charged for a bottle of white wine but we'd had 2 glasses of the white. We were told that the head chef had not come in due to personal circumstances and that left them short staffed in the kitchen, but the restaurant didn't seem particularly busy. The Carrington has a long way to go to catch up with restaurants of the calibre of Sebastian's or Cellar 47.
