Great view of families of seals sunning themselves on the rocks immediately below the lookout. Good parking and walkway.

The seal viewing platform was an easy walk from the carpark with plenty of space for all to get a good shot of the seals.
If a good photo is what you're after I'd recommend at least a 200mm lens or bigger as you're a fair way up from the action.
Low tide is apparently the best time to go although we sore plenty of seals in the early morning when the tide was on the turn.
From the carpark, there is also easy access to go for a walk along the beach, with toilets close by and when we were there an ice cream / snack cart set up (yum).

We had visited a number of sites on our trip to New Zealand in the hope of seeing Seals in their natural habitat.
It was a lovely walk up from the car park with fabulous views over Tauranga Bay. There were a few vantage points along the way and when we got to the big viewing platform, there they were. So Happy!
We watched them basking in the sun as well as playing in the water. Some were moving about on the rocks below. They blend in so well that it takes a while to get your eye in to see them.
On our way we came across a very friendly Weka, our first for the trip, who came right up to us . I was able to get lots of photos of this very social bird.

Visited on Sunday 13th May. It is worth going to see, there is a large carpark and then a walkway to take you to the viewing platforms to see the seals in their natural habitat.
