Definitely more different - you'd never see sights like here in UK. I'd go back anyday. An expensive trip but experience well worth it. New Zealanders are very friendly people as are the Maoris. Dart River on South Island worth the trip if only for all waterfalls not to mention you may be chased by pod of dolphins. The hot springs make the North Island. The water is such a beautiful shade of blue. I've never seen water such a shade of cyan before.

Room tip: This is a lovely place to get married. There's a lovely little chapel on the site of the hotel well known for carrying out weddings.

We were on a group tour and the manager came on the coach to welcome us. It is located on the lake front with serene surrounding and fabulous shrubs and garden with fantastic colourful lighting at night. Rooms need upgrading and refurbishment. Really awesome restaurant for dinner and breakfast with great service.

Great Hotel. Only been here for meals and coffees, plus a Xmas function, but really like the place. Staff, food and comfy surroundings are wonderful. Recommend. My favourite go-to in Te Anau (winter or summer).

I was disappointed with this hotel, not that it was bad but it didn't feel right, there were NO niceities bout it, our toilet broke, yes they fixed it, but......it was in a good location to getting to the city

Didn't feel the staff in the restaurant worked hard or cared

My wife and I were on an organized tour of New Zealand. We stayed here for 1 night. The manager Brent came onto our tour bus to welcome us in person when we arrived. The grounds are spacious, as are the rooms. My wife and I had room #139. The bed was comfortable, and there was sufficient storage space. My only complaint is that the shampoo and conditioner contain methylparaben and propylparaben, which are bad for you, endocrine-wise.

There were 2 guest laundries. The washer and dryer cost 2 NZD per machine per load. You can buy washing powder for 2 NZD at the front desk.

We ate dinner and breakfast in the MacKinnon Room Restaurant. The food was good. This was the first place we stayed at during our 18-day tour that the hostess at the restaurant asked for your room number, before seating you for breakfast, and then asked you to use the hand sanitizer by the hostess stand.

The hotel was within walking distance of the waterfront, restaurants, a grocery store, and attractions (Te Anau Glowworm Caves).
